Should you pay the ransom?

I’ve read several articles in the past few days regarding the reasons Riviera Beach, Florida agreed to pay $600,000 in ransom to hackers who took over the city’s computer system last week.

I then compared this experience to the one in Baltimore, MD, where the city refused to pay approximately $76,000 ransom in May of this year. While still under FBI investigation, the city has put more than $18 million into the attack and expect Baltimore residents to feel the aftershocks for months.

In most articles that I read, there were references to TRAINING … which of course is where I come in!

Accredited by APMG International, the NIST Cybersecurity Professional (NCSP) Training Program is designed to help organizations use the NIST Cybersecurity Framework as a key part of its systematic process for identifying, assessing, and managing cybersecurity risk!

In the classes that we teach, LRS Education Services helps our clients understand the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and how it allows each organization to choose how to handle risk in different ways. The NCSP Training Program is all about building a business focused cyber-risk management program that will minimize risks, and at the same time, protect critical assets.

Learning how to implement, or improve upon, your cybersecurity program utilizing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework will allow you to mitigate risks based on your organization’s needs/goals … and hopefully save your organization from having to choose whether or not to pay a ransom!

Our classes are scheduled monthly and are available for you to attend either in person or virtually using your computer to join the instructor and other students attending.

I’m happy to direct you to your Account Manager within LRS Education Services who can help determine which class would be most advantageous to you and your team.
