NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 Webinar!

YES!! Oh, I’m excited!! Do you know what’s coming out early next year? The NIST Cybersecurity Framework Version 2.0! (I feel like I’m using too many exclamation points. Oh well.)

You heard that right, a MAJOR update to the venerable NIST Cybersecurity Framework is coming in a few months. The NIST CSF was last updated in 2018 with version 1.1. Now, it’s good news that the NIST CSF is being updated, but having to wait until the cold winds of winter blow in early 2024 to get the details sounds miserable. I don’t like waiting…so let’s not.

A NIST CSF 2.0 IPD Webinar

Here’s the plan. Rather than being those people who wait until everyone in the whole world is trying to get up to speed, we believe you deserve a preview. Think of it as a movie trailer without a movie, and without superheroes. But did a movie ever help you improve your cybersecurity?

On October 24, 2023 LRS Education Services is hosting a free webinar on the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 Initial Public Draft. Now you see why I used NIST CSF 2.0 IPD in the title!

What to Expect in the Webinar

Here’s what we are going to cover in the webinar:

  • Major changes from NIST CSF 1.1 to the new NIST CSF 2.0 IPD (New name, new scope, etc.)
  • Goals of the 2.0 IPD (Big picture purposes)
  • Changes to the Core (Spoiler alert: there’s a new Function)
  • Implementation examples (What are those? They’ll make your life easier. Come learn how!)
  • New methods for Informative References (More flexibility)
  • Updates on using the NIST CSF (You’ll have to wait and see on this one)

And FREE Stuff

What good is a webinar without some helpful freebies? Here’s what you’ll receive just for attending:

  • The one-hour training overviewing the changes and benefits of the version 2.0 IPD
  • A handy PDF reference sheet of the new version
  • An editable Word doc with a bunch of related links to give you more depth
  • An Excel doc with the entire NIST CSF 2.0 Core IPD

Thoughts from a Courseware Author/Trainer

As you know, at LRS Education Services we’ve been offering NIST Cybersecurity Framework training courses since 2017. In 2020 we moved away from using an external provider to supply our courseware and began authoring it in-house. The reviews on the course content have been overwhelmingly positive.

One of the most valuable benefits of writing our own courseware is that we can update it in near real-time. What that also means is that we’ve got to stay on top of changes in the industry and related best practices.

Our current NIST Cybersecurity Framework training courses are much more than just an analysis of the NIST CSF. We dive into associated references and the practical application of the Framework. Having said that, all of our NIST CSF courses are built around the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Let me explain why I’m personally so excited about this update that we will be previewing for you in the webinar. The cybersecurity landscape has changed dramatically since the 1.1 version in 2018. We account for that in our existing classes by adding and frequently improving the ancillary content. But now, we get to see how the core around which it is all built is being changed to keep up with the most current trends in cybersecurity. So cool!

So yes, we will be making major changes to our NIST CSF classes based on the new NIST CSF IPD 2.0. And if you’d like to see what’s coming down the line now, then please join us on October 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Central time. If that time doesn’t work for you, go ahead and register. We will record the webinar and make sure you receive the link to watch it at your convenience.

I am SO looking forward to sharing many exciting details about the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 Initial Public Draft with you!! Click here to register.
